We are looking for an ACVIM or ECVIM Diplomate in internal medicine to lead our internal medicine department into the future. You will have the opportunity to share your knowledge with our team of internal medicine clinicians and our other staff.
The focus of this position is further development of our internal medicine department through knowledge sharing, supervision, and education during clinical work. You will be available for case discussions and rounds, supervise other staff, develop training programmes and other educational projects in internal medicine. Of course, you will manage your own cases as well, but the focus of your work is on knowledge sharing with other colleagues.
You will be based at AniCura Albano animal hospital in the Stockholm area. Yet you will be encouraged to visit other AniCura hospitals throughout Sweden to help them develop their knowledge of internal medicine.
We are looking for someone who is not only an experienced internal medicine clinician, but who is also willing and able to share that experience with others.
We are offering full-time employment and the position is available as from now. Much of your time will be spent at Albano where you will work as a senior clinician in support of the rest of the team. There will be plenty of time left for development of educational programmes and research.
Albano animal hospital has approximately 45.000 patients a year, of which around 4000 referral patients, mostly from the greater Stockholm area, but also from across Sweden.
The hospital provides clinical services in orthopaedics, neurology, cardiology, internal medicine, ophthalmology, dermatology, oncology as well as emergency-drop-in (7 am - 10 pm).
The internal medicine department has access to a large in-house diagnostic laboratory, endoscopy facilities, low field MRI, multiple abdominal ultrasound suites with GE Logiq E9 ultrasound machine and a Siemens Somatom Prespective =64 channels, 128-slice configuration CT scanner.
For hospitalised patients the hospitals has separate canine and feline medium care wards, separate canine and feline infectious disease wards and a state of the art intensive care department, all attended by nursing staff 24/7. In total there is room for 70 hospitalised patients, on average 30-40 places are occupied.
The nursing staff comprise around 140 people. Around 70 veterinarians find employ at Albano. Amongst them are European Diplomates in dermatology, surgery, neurology, cardiology, diagnostic imaging and Swedish specialist in cardiology, oncology, dermatology, surgery, and ophthalmology.
The hospital had accredited residency programmes in surgery, neurology and cardiology.
The internal medicine department includes the subspecialisations feline medicine (ISFM cat-friendly) and gastrointestinal medicine. The team consists of 5 senior veterinarians, (3 Swedish specialists in dog and cat diseases, one veterinarian enrolled in European Master program internal medicine). On average 30 cases per week are managed by each veterinarian.
